Free Summer Fun Ideas
The Summer holidays are nearly here for most schoolsđ
If you are looking for things to keep the kids entertained or spend time as a family without it costing a small fortune, we have put some ideas together here for Free Summer Fun Ideas.
(As ever, check yourself if / when places are open as there have been some changes in this post-covid world.)
Why not take a stroll in one of the lovely parks we have in Lancashire?
If you didnât get to Avenham Park for the egg-rolling event recently, this is a lovely park to meander around, or walk along the river.
Worden Park in Leyland holds a Green Flag Award for its park with over 60 hectares of meadows and field to explore.
Happy Mount Park in Morecambe has a fun splash park, that is well worth the ÂŁ1 each entry fee. https://www.lancaster.gov.uk/parks-and-open-spaces/splash-park
For lots of fresh air and exercise, why not plan a cycle ride and try one of these?
Guild Wheel, Preston

Have a go at Geocaching!
There are free versions of this so check out what the Geocaching Association of Great Britain have to say
Beach Fun
Pack up a bucket and spade, suncream (hopefully!) and a picnic and head to one of a number of beaches in Lancashire.
Try St Annes, Lytham, Blackpool, Southport, Heysham or Morcambe to name a few.

Build a den
One thing my kids loved to do when they were little (especially if it was raining) was to use lots of blankets and build a den in the dining room! They would hide under there with their own special âtreasuresâ (colouring book and crayons and some snacks!) and it would keep them entertained for a little while at least! Perfect for Free Summer Fun Ideas!
Pitch a tent
You could go one step further and pitch a tent in the garden if you have one. That way, even if it is raining, they can still keep dry and have fun đ
If itâs lovely and sunny (fingers crossed), get out the water guns, sprays or even old washing up liquid bottles and have a good old fashioned water fight!
If you have a group of friends who are all still trying to work from home over the Summer, why not take it in turns to have all the kids one day each? (Sometimes works better with 2 adults looking after the kids at a time depending on the number of them!)
Plan an activity at each house. Maybe baking at one house, painting / drawing / craft at another? You could even have a particular theme going all week?Â

Visit a museum
I know its Liverpool and not technically Lancashire, but my children always loved a visit to the World Museum In Liverpool. Admission is free to the museum but special exhibitions do have a fee. I never felt the need to pay extra to see anything as there is so much to do, but there are always different exhibitions running throughout the year.
